An October Day in Colorado

The season, a starch pants soldier, crisply begins to turn
marching across the land spreading an autumn multicolor quilt.

Wind swept mountains pull up winter slumber covers
beneath the azure sky sparkling as a fine sapphire gem.

Whispering now the last warmth of midday is fading,
dancing with leaves pirouetting, embracing the moment.

Leaves clad in festive gold, yellow, red and orange become
dying lovers fallen from the arms of a Quaking Aspen.

The glorious scene is seized in poetry, mystery,
a twirling chaos to the music of the eternal earth.

There is a peace in this clamor of life,
a promise of return and the gift of creation.
