I met a man,
researching his genealogy.
He said he was looking
for his past, his history.
I said: “And, when you find it,
what will you do with it?”
He replied: “I don’t know!”
Sometimes not knowing who we are,
is the only salvation we have.

I really enjoyed this poem. I am always a little leery to leave constructive criticism because, well who knows more about your poem than you? But I will leave a thought for your consideration (or to ignore completely!). I really enjoyed your piece, but I already knew where it was going at line 2 because of the title. What if you simplified it to just “Salvation”? Then, the reader may think that this man is looking for salvation in his geneology, and your ending becomes an impactful twist. Like I said – just a thought. Nice writing!
