Dissimulation

You are the water,
I am the oil.
I did not choose,
It was physics.
Science determined
Our spiritual existence,
Our passionate dysfunction,
The opposite repelled,
Neither rising or fallen,
Just separate, dissimilar.

  1. Hi Donald,

Saw this little jewel on my “tag surfer” which led me to this welcoming place. Love this poem. Something so comforting about applying the laws of physics to a faltering relationship:)

Nice to “meet” you. I’ll be back…

  2. a short, delightful poem about opposites and I think there is an idiom “like oil and water”- if it is not, it shoul be 🙂

  3. I love the way physics combines with the personal here. There’s a nice objective/subjective undercurrent going on.

  4. Science determined our spiritual existence, I’m not sure I can get my head round that, but you write it very well!

  5. Thanks, Donald! Not often a poem is written for me! I like “I did not choose/ It was physics,” too! So true on so many levels!
