Two strangers walking in the park,
Alone and lonely in the cold still air.
Wanting to speak for comforts sake,
Not knowing if the other will care.
We stop for a moment to catch our breath,
Seeking hope in each furtive glance.
Daring not to voice our needs,
Afraid of taking one more chance.
Sadness binds your heart,
I can see it in your eyes.
Knowing the wonderful person you are,
Too proud to act out our silly lies.
How I would like to grasp your hand,
Taking it gently, warmly into mine,
Strolling through this winters chill,
And leave past memories far behind.
