I Wouldn’t Be Lonely

I Wouldn’t Be Lonely

(verse)
Tonight half the world slumbers,
The the moon fills up the sky,
I wear this empty house around me
And I’m wishin’ I would die.
The clock is tickin’ countin’ minutes,
Till the break of dawn,
I hear a night bird singin’
It’saying, “fool she’s really gone.”

(verse)
I know somewhere in this old night
She’s lonely just like me,
She’s got a aching broken heart
No-one else will ever see.
We’re both so good at faking
We wear a players mask,
We tell the world we’re doin’ fine
Whenever we are asked.

(chorus)
If I could feel her sleepin’ in the bed right next to me,
If I could stroke her soft silken hair and keep her company,
If I could only tell her how much she means to me,
Then I wouldn’t be lonely, no I wouldn’t be lonely.

(bridge)
You can’t heal two hearts torn apart by angry words we said,
You can’t take these cold cold sheets off our empty bed,
You can’t stop a night birds stinging words ringing in my head,
You can’t sleep when your only love is sleepin’ in anothers bed.
It’s a sad comment on a love gone wrong over words best left unsaid.

(verse)

There’s a truck honkin’ in the distance
Darlin’ did you hear it too,
The smell of morning coffee in the air
Mixed with the sweet smell of you,
I’ll get up and put on my clothes
I’ll even try to eat a bite,
Then walk through this lonely day
Dreading another sleepless night.

(chorus)
If I could feel her sleepin’ in the bed right next to me,
If I could stroke her soft silken hair and keep her company,
If I could only tell her how much she means to me,
Then I wouldn’t be lonely, no I wouldn’t be lonely.

(Outro)
No, I wouldn’t be lonely…..
